Internet Reference Tools for Art History

For articles (as well as other materials):

http://library.nyu.edu/collections/find_articles.html

You must access this via the NYU network or it won’t work.

Select “Art.”

This will give you a choice of five databases.  For modern art, the most useful are:

Art full text, Art index retrospective, and ARTbibliographies Modern

For books and catalogues:

www.bobcat.nyu.edu

If you want to find out about books that may not be in the NYU library system, you can access more extensive reference catalogues by going to http://library.nyu.edu and clicking on “Search: other catalogs”.  Try in particular “WorldCat”, “CATNYP”, or “RLIN”.

Additional bibliography for modern art:

http://library.moma.org/

This allows you to search DADABASE, the catalogue of the library at The Museum of Modern Art.

Additional bibliography for architecture and urban design:

http://www.columbia.edu/libraries
